Welcome to my world

Unashamedly a country bumpkin. My heart and soul will always belong to the Kentish countryside where I grew up. I yearn to be outside each day, and thankfully covid has allowed that for me - but I do feel terrible for all my friends and family who lack outdoor spaces adorned with the luscious greenery my family home is blessed with.
I have returned home from university due to covid killing my London dreams, which perhaps isn't a bad thing afterall... I have high hopes for my final year, despite having zero access to studio space and workshops on site.
I take almost all of my creative inspiration from Mother Nature, and she in turn gifts me her beautiful colours to dye an array of fibres with. Sustainability is a huge point of focus, not only for my work, but for my lifestyle choices too. I strongly insist to use and purchase natural materials where possible, and if not, simply up-cycle and recycle! Gosh i miss charity shopping...
Recently i finished writing my dissertation on William Morris and how the arts and crafts movement was strongly influenced by medievalism and folk art, which is in a way where my work ethic and belief system stem from. Looking back to the past for inspiration is one of the best ways to create sturdy and long lasting goods, after all, everything was built to last a long time. *sigh*, i can't stand the capitalistic world we live in, why couldn't i have been born in medieval England on a farmstead where my only worry was which flavour jam to make tomorrow! I hope to create beautiful designs out of natural resources for you to enjoy, and alongside that post plenty of content about what i'm up to. Where would we be without the internet during a global pandemic?
I hope you enjoy reading through my page, and perhaps even learn a thing or two whilst you're at it! Please feel free to send me a message on here or via my instagram @eleanorgracedesign
Lots of love,
Eleanor x
